Domaine De Fontenille: Joie de vivre!

Deep in the south of France lies a heavenly slice of old-world paradise.

Domaine De Fontenille is home to the classic understated luxury of your dreams. With an avenue lined with centuries old plane trees and an architectural restoration of beautiful grandeur,  it’s as if this 18th century estate has been plucked directly from your imagination.

The South of France is (or definitely should be) on every persons bucket list. With the help of Mr & Mrs Smith Hotels, we were able to make the French countryside dream a reality at the incredible Domaine De Fontenille.

First things first… how to get there! Like most beautiful things in the world, you have to work very hard or travel pretty far to find them. The quickest and easiest route to get to Domaine De Fontenille is to fly into Marseille Airport, then either hire a car or catch an Uber/taxi out to the Luberon region. After 45 minutes you’ll find yourself in pure serenity. Not bad for ultimate beauty…

The Rooms

One of the few Provencal properties to have preserved their original appearance, the bedrooms are large and luxurious maintaining the classic architecture but with all the latest bells and whistles. Each room is unique, but all are bathed in natural light and face the gardens.

Domaine De Fonentille offers three varying room types – executive, deluxe & superior – each with varying price points. They also offer 3 suites for those who want to make their room their own.

With a 4-star rating, an entry-level room will set you back around $400 AUD per night.. very affordable for a slice of heaven!

The Food

Hotel food has a bad rap, everyone knows you’re usually better off going elsewhere. But hold your horses, because Domaine De Fontenille, bucks the trend and gives you absolutely no reason to even leave the hotel grounds. Michelin-starred chef, Jerome Faure, oversees the restaurant, “Le Champ des Lunes”, and the bistro, “La Cuisine d’Amélie” and uses the crème de la crème of Luberon products and works with the best local producers.
