Loco For Sōko

Because life is too short for bad sushi!

Nestled on the busy and bustling Victoria Street lies Sōko; a zen and delicious haven away from the chaos. From the street, the wall-to-wall windows give a glimpse into the minimal and rustic interior, with exposed brick walls and industrial retro light fittings just a hint of what’s inside.

The menu is extensive, offering all the Japanese classics as well as plenty of noms for the daring diner. Choose between an array of tempura, gyoza, ramen and sashimi or opt for the grilled Kingfish cheek or Abalone sushi brioche, all accompanied by a range of sake, Japanese beers, fine wines and cocktails.

The plates are ideal for sharing and if you’re a seafood lover, you’re in luck because each and every dish is fresh, expertly prepared, and absolutely delicious! The Sashimi Omakase is a work of art and the Kingfish Carpaccio is stunning and full of flavour with thinly sliced kingfish topped with the unique combination of wasabi and cucumber gelato. Not to mention the sushi, which tastes as good as it looks!

For Sōko, good sushi means fresh, high-quality ingredients and not a lot of fanfare. They don’t use many sauces or glazes, preferring to keep their sushi fresh and delicious – just the way we like it!

Embodying the Japanese philosophies of simplicity, tranquility and without pretence, their unfussy approach to dining makes Sōko one of the best choices out there for simple, flavoursome and fresh sushi.

To make things even sweeter, Sōko is now delivering all your favourite dishes right to your front door! Their recently launched delivery app – Sōko Japanese – allows you to enjoy premium sushi dishes without having to take a step outside. Just like their in-house menu, the choices are plentiful, offering everything from Nigiri Sushi and Miso Soup, through to Bento dishes that can reach any door within a 10km radius and with 2 restaurants(Abbotsford and Sunshine) that’s pretty much anywhere in Melbourne!
