With Australian retail space bursting at the seams with overseas fashion juggernauts, it’s rare these days to see our very own local talent under the spotlight. That is, until the recently reinvigorated Eastland launched The Arcade, in full support of our home grown talent.
The Arcade is a “boutique space dedicated to beautifully crafted accessories and championing up-and-coming designers, set amongst a backdrop of art and cultural experiences.” The Arcade is “inspired by iconic Melbourne laneway culture” with spaces always evolving and changing “creating an ongoing and ever changing retail experience.”
Launched on 18th August, Eastland released the first instalment of local labels to hit ‘The Arcade’. A few notable mentions and ones to check out:
Bromley & Co
Led by one of Australia’s most recognisable and innovative artists, David Bromley, the storefront offers a number of his signature paintings, sculptures and interiors, as well as his wife Yuge’s clothing and accessories line.
Our personal favourite, Farrah Designs, embodies what local talent really is, with all their leather accessories being handcrafted right here in Australia. The beauty about Farrah designs is that it’s a family affair. Hand-made leather accessories have been in the family for generations, with every accessory telling its own story and maintaining the highest quality.
This one’s for the foodies, Sisko Chocolate is going to leave you salivating. It’s only fair that, like any small child, after a few hours shopping you might need to get those sugar levels back up… and Sisko is the perfect spot to do so! Don’t pass on their Hot Chocolates, you’ll have to go and try it for yourself to see why…
