The 2017 Alfa Romeo Portsea Polo

As we are well and truly into the new year, the good times continue to roll on here in Melbourne. The sun is high, your boss is on vacation and the drinks are plentiful.

Without exception, the 2017 Alfa Romeo Portsea Polo in association with Peroni, entertained that ‘Aussie Summer’ notion with an electric and fun-filled day of fashion, entertainment and Polo on the Mornington Peninsula.

A chic gathering by the sea (residing in Victoria’s most expensive postcode), the Portsea Polo continues to be one of the hottest events of the year. A day for all ages, you don’t have to be fancy or wealthy, or even know much about the game of Polo to enjoy a day AT the Polo.

For what is a great excuse to get gussied up, the fashion stakes at this year’s Portsea Polo were as high as ever. Following the theme of ‘Italian Summer,’ relaxed, tailored outfits with a hint of colour were key to looking the part.

We saw many nautical looks from the men; bold blues, navy stripes and white chino pants/shorts.

Bright pastel colours were a choice for many men wearing blazers, and linen playing a choice of the majority who wished to beat the summer heat.

The look of the day was a classic pair of tailored pants with a tailored, open-neck shirt. Accessorising was key, as you wouldn’t want to leave home without a pair of sunglasses, a watch and a nice pair of shoes (tassel loafers and boat shoes were the go-to).

The women were dressed to the tee, with the obvious white dress taking a back seat this year in favour for a splash of colour. Azzuro blues, salmon and yellow were a hit.

Sponsors such as Alfa Romeo and Peroni saw to it that guests enjoy their day in spectacular fashion, putting on a great affair for those lucky enough to be invited.

With canapés and cocktails plentiful, celebrities and socialites mingled and enjoyed the Italian-inspired surroundings.

Microflite, Jaggad and Casa Amuk also entertained guests as the themed marquees provided great food, cocktails and live acts throughout the afternoon.

If you were fortunate enough, you could even purchase a return to Melbourne via helicopter thanks to Microflite.

All in all, it was great to see a cohort of like minded individuals enjoy each other’s company in the relaxed surroundings of the Portsea Polo for 2017.
